![]() ![]() Just because its an fm synth, I think it makes it extremely competitive compared to many other synths, as the things you can achieve are pretty much limitless. Its great to learn basic synthesis from, there are some pretty neat tricks and techniques you can use with Massive to achieve certain sounds, but in terms of just messing about and finding something that gloriously works its much more possible with Fm8. I started using Massive way before I even bought Ableton, my first real DAW. I'm looking forward to using the morph feature on FM8 to create complex bassline that morph from one timbre to another. What do the dogs thin about their individual features, and what each is better at? I have a feeling FM synthesis will be a tricky one to master. (I'm usually more of a warm fuzzy midrange worb than skrillex dubstep growl kind of guy). Straight away i've managed to make a pretty nice growling bass but would like to see what other nice textures I can come up with. I've decided to get my head stuck into FM8 any way and have started to understand my way around it. The only problem is that it's harder to understand so many people prefer the quicker gratification they get with Massive. I've opened Massive and had a little twiddle but to be honest I don't really want to fall into that trap of having the 'Massive sound'.Īfter reading a few articles, many people say that FM8 has much more potential and is the better all round synth. So far, i've really not even scratched the surface. I know they both have the potential to make interesting sounds and even ones that can morph into complete different timbres and such. This is why massive and FM8 attracted me. Recently though, i've found myself wanting to create my own bass sounds and really try and get the hang of making bass lines that are more original, organic and being able to have more control of the main waveform. ![]() I've never been great at synth design, always opting to process basses and leads from a sampler instead. So what's DOA's consensus on these two synths? ![]()
